Faculty Seed Grant
The goal of the Faculty Seed Grant program is to help stimulate innovative water-related research among faculty and students across the Montana University System.
Each year, approximately $40,000 is available to support research on (but not limited to) climate change; water supply interactions; groundwater and surface water interactions; biodiversity/ecosystem processes; economic valuation of water resources; water supply and management; natural water storage/retention; and water quality. To read more about current research projects underway, please refer to the Faculty Research page.
To be eligible for a Faculty Seed Grant, applicants must have academic or research faculty appointments at one of the Montana Institutions of Higher Education. Early-career faculty members are particularly encouraged to apply.
Funding priority in 2016 was given to proposals that (a) provided science to inform key areas of uncertainty outlined in the Montana State Water Plan; (b) fostered student involvement; and (c) demonstrated a compelling plan for how the seed funding will be used to seek additional external funding.
